Now that we are through the holidays, we’ve had to encounter a new reality. The push was to hit the 2025 Christmas season hard and make the absolute best of it. Which we did. But now the smoke is clearing and we need to come up with a plan for 2026.
Budget for a startup is always the issue. There are so many things we’d like to do, but they all cost a ton and the ROI is just not worth it. Every minute of our day has to be maximized, and waking up at 4am is necessary but not enough.
The key, clearly, is better social media. We tried some comedy content, hoping it would connect with people, but it didn’t make sense in context. Getting slapped while camping or making a video about a negative, mean guy doesn’t have anything to do with skincare, and it just didn’t land.
But it was worth a shot. And now we know.
The street interviews we did worked well and were on-brand, so that will definitely happen again. From my perspective, walking around NYC trying to find people to speak to is just torture. 95% of people are just amazingly rude, and I totally get it, because I would have been the same while living there. Some random dude puts a mic in your face while you’re walking to work isn’t the best look.
But for the people that spoke to us, a huge thanks.
We’re learning as we go, and, most importantly, people are really connecting with the products. Getting the word out is the trick, and the grind continues...
